Steps is a VST port of the classic Hammerhead drum loop software. By the way Bitwig natively allows linking VSTs very similar to what's happening when you connect modules so dedicated modular setup is fun but adds a little from my perspective. Steps is a free step sequencer VST plugin developed by xoxos.
There are tons of producers whos become famous by just layering raw tone sequences out of modulars or legacy analogs and tweaking them in real time like changing sequence steps, pitch, accents, etc and sound modifiers if use moog-style terminology (filter, envelopes, lfos). I can say the same about others like Diva. Interesting thing is this preset player now contains very good sounding raw tones (sinus, saw, triangle, square) of synthesizers it mimicks as presets. In this article, I will list the 8 best commercial sequencer plugins I found that also sound great. If you're aware of Arturia Analog Lab they have just dropped version 2. Step Sequencers are fun and also very useful plugins, but there are also a lot to choose from, which makes it harder to decide on which one to get. Personally I think re-creating modulars like Reaktor Blocks is just overthinking of what is actually required to make these modular-like patterns.

I'm really tempted by what's possible in modular setups but honestly these days I can do the same - just use right tools in some non-obvious combinations. SequencAir, made by Full Bucket Music, is an excellent free step sequencer VST plugin. You change the grid and thus the steps with the quantize values.back in the day this was done with the keyboard shortcuts on the top row which is kind of why you might want to switch over to the Cubase classic key commands or better yet map them to buttons on your MIDI ust me you don't want to be changing those values with the mouse.yes that's exactly the point and I've been looking at hardware sequencers for live changes in pattern tempos while triggering VSTs.
